About the Employer: Rainbow Homes Delhi is part of a nationwide network of 24/7 shelter and care homes for homeless children, run in cooperation with the State govt, Education dept and Child protection agencies. There are 3 homes for children aged 6 to 18 years (one home each for girls located at Kashmere Gate & Okhla; and one for boys located at Mehrauli) in Delhi, and 2 centers for young adults aged 18+years (both located at Old Deli), with a total of around 400 children under our direct care. OBJECTIVE: To provide mental health counselling to the children living in our shelter homes for homeless children, and liaise with local child protection agencies for compliance related reports and investigations. 1) Maintain confidentiality of records relating to children' treatment. 2) Encourage children to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, helping them to develop insight into themselves or their relationships. 3) Collect information about children through interviews, observation, or tests. 4) Counsel children or patients, individually or in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes. 5) Guide children in the development of skills or strategies for dealing with their problems. 6) Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge. 7) Participate in home management and child care duties with staff. 8) Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports. 9) Evaluate children' physical or mental condition, based on review of client information. 10) Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans. 11) Refer patients, children, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary. 12) Act as client advocates to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations. 13) Modify treatment activities or approaches as needed to comply with changes in children' status. 14) Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting children or patients. 15) Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs on children' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives. 16) Discuss with individual patients their plans for life after leaving therapy. 17) Meet with families, probation officers, police, or other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process. 18) Plan, organize, or lead structured programs of counseling, work, study, recreation, or social activities for children. 19) Plan or conduct programs to prevent substance abuse or improve community health or counseling services. 20) Monitor children' use of medications. 21) Learn about new developments in counseling by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, or establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies. 22) Gather information about community mental health needs or resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy. 23) Supervise other counselors, social service staff, assistants, or graduate students. 24) Coordinate or direct employee workshops, courses, or training about mental health issues. Qualifications: BSc in Child Psychology/Counselling; prior counselling experience and exposure to children in need of care and protection is preferred.
